DC-3 Dakota PH-PBA 'Prinses Amalia' to Gilze-Rijen

May 14, 2020

On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, our Princess flew from Lelystad to Gilze-Rijen to be parked with the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historical Flight Foundation (SKHV) for the coming months.

Earlier this month the decision was taken to cancel all flights of the season 2020 due to the Corona crisis.
Thanks to the sponsors (Jumbo Supermarkets and the Royal Schiphol Group) and the Friends of DDA, DDA is able to bridge the budget year without any income from flying by avoiding a number of important costs. DDA is very grateful to the SKHV for its hospitality, which will be extended until March 2021. In the intervening period, the SKHV will ensure that the aircraft remains in an airworthy condition and that the organisation is maintained at AOC level.

The DDA hopes to return to Lelystad in the spring of 2021 to get everything ready for the new flying season. However, this will strongly depend on the development of the virus, the measures taken by the government in this respect and the public interest in flying in the Dakota.

A local broadcasting station 'Omroep Flevoland' reported about the departure: Report (in Dutch)
